We are all healers in our own way

Identity is such a funny thing.  Our minds create labels for ourselves in an effort to find our place in the world. And if you were to be asked “who are you?” Most of us would answer with our name, our profession, and our age. But we know deep down that we go wayyyyy beyond that. These attributes that we define as “self” are merely the ones closest to the surface. They are the most visible from outside eyes, and at times the mask we put on for the world. But if we were to think about it on a deeper level, would you label yourself as a healer?

If the answer is “No, I am not a healer” then let me tell you why you should reconsider. You have an impact in every single interaction you have. Whether it be with your corworkers, friends, family, yoga community, or even down to the smallest interactions like those you experience when you hold the door open for a stranger or greet your coffee barista. The point is, you make an impact every single day

Healing is not just about physical care or medicine, it's about the energy we put into the world; the empathy we offer others and the ways in which we nurture relationships, community, and ourselves. We all have the power to heal through words, actions, and presence. In this interconnected world, our actions ripple outward and in every exchange with others we have has the potential to contribute to collective healing.

On the surface, practicing yoga looks like just a physical practice. However, delving deeper you realize yoga’s ancient teachings give us  tools to tap into your body’s innate wisdom to facilitate healing. When we learn how to cut out the noise and turn the attention inwards, we are guided from within on a path of healing.

ABY is intentional in offering a variety of healing modalities- yoga, breath, dance, and co- creation within community. Join us for the following healing workshops that will get you out of your mind and into the feeling & healing body.

Thanks for submitting!

Land Acknowledgement: It is our privilege and honor at Auke Bay Yoga to live, work, and practice here on Lingít Aani, on the unceded territory of the Áak'w Kwáan who have resided in this area since time immemorial, and who have historically been displaced from what we know today as Berners Bay and the Auke Bay areas of D'zantiki Héeni, known by its colonized name of Juneau.

We would also like to recognize our relatives of the Taku River, the T'aaku Kwáan who came to reside at Anax Ya Andagan Ye' otherwise known as South Douglas, without recognizing them would further contribute to the erasure of their very existence and the many contributions they have made to this community in the past, now, and in the future. The T'aaku are our relatives, we care for them, and are thankful for the stewardships they too will continue to make in perpetuity.

Gunalchéesh to the Áak'w Kwáan for your continued stewardship and guidance as we move forward together recognizing the historical and ongoing harms of colonialism. We humbly give thanks to the land and its ancestors for their wisdom, strength, and generosity. May we honor and protect this sacred earth together for generations to come.
